Product Overview:

    DMEM/F12 medium is based on DMEM medium, adding richer nutrients in F12 medium, containing a variety of trace elements, and is widely used in the cultivation of a variety of mammalian cells. At the same time, DMEM/F12 medium is often used as the basis for the development of serum-free medium, and it is also suitable for the cultivation of mammalian cells with low serum content and the cultivation of clone density. Phenol red is used as an indicator of the pH value in the culture medium to continuously monitor the pH of the culture solution. 

    At low pH values, phenol red makes the culture solution yellow, while at higher pH values it makes the culture solution purple. , It is red when the pH value is 7.2~7.4, which is most suitable for cell culture. However, phenol red also has some shortcomings. Studies have shown that phenol red can mimic the effect of steroid hormones (especially estrogen), so estrogen is used in

     For sensitive cells (such as breast tissue), it is best to use phenol red-free medium. Phenol red can interfere with detection during flow cytometry. In addition, the presence of phenol red in some serum-free medium formulations can interfere with the sodium-potassium balance. 

    This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts and other ingredients required for cell culture, but does not contain protein, lipids or any growth factors, so this product needs to be used with serum or without additives.
